A team from the Ministry of Health is expected to visit Kisoro Hospital to orient staff on the use and management of newly constructed isolation and theatre wards, which are yet to become operational.
The team is expected to orient the hospital workers on Tuesday 7th April 2026 at Kisoro hospital.
The team will also conduct a similar orientation at Busanza Health Centre IV, where the government recently completed a modern theatre ward. Despite their completion, services in these new units have not yet commenced, pending official commissioning.
According to the programme, the team will start the orientation at Kisoro Hospital at 8:00 a.m. before proceeding to Busanza Health Centre IV.
Both projects at Kisoro Hospital and Busanza Health Centre IV are estimated to have cost about 5 billion Uganda shillings, reflecting the government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare service delivery in the area.
This development was confirmed by Dr. Bahane Emmanuel, the Medical Superintendent of Kisoro Hospital, who noted that commissioning of the facilities will be carried out at a later date.
Construction of the two facilities began four years ago, aimed at easing the workload of medical personnel and expanding space for patients at the hospital.
