It was a moment of shock and sadness when a lightening strike killed one and injured many others in Nyabicyecye village, Rubuguri Town Council at a wedding ceremony of two teachers who have been in love for a quite long period of time.
The incident happened on Saturday, April 27, at around 6pm during heavy down pour.
Mbabazi Boniface was tying the knot with her partner, whose identity has been concealed by this website. The bride hails from Muramba sub county.
According to a source who attended the ceremony, the tragedy hit when the lovebirds cut the cake.
Many revelers are said to have been injured, with the public address system damaged as well.
Five people were rushed to Rubuguri HC IV for treatment , but one male teenager was pronounced dead upon arrival. The source adds that other victims were guests from Muramba Sub County who after receiving first aid sought further treatment in Kisoro town.
The deceased is a resident of a neighboring Kashaka village.
It is also said that one house in the neighborhood was also damaged by the catastrophe, while crop gardens were washed away by running waters.
