The Kisoro District Security Committee has established a special investigative team to examine the circumstances surrounding the withholding of examination results for several schools by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
The move follows growing concern from parents and students over delayed access to the results.
The decision was reached during a high-level security meeting held at the office of the Resident District Commissioner at Kisoro District headquarters. The meeting brought together key district officials, including representatives from the RDC’s office, the District Education Office, the Chief Administrative Office, and heads of security agencies.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Badru Sebyara, the Kisoro RDC, confirmed the formation of the committee, saying it will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the root causes of the withheld results.
According to district officials, several schools in Kisoro District have been affected. These include Kisoro Progressive Secondary School, Kabindi Primary School, Read Primary School, and St. Allen’s Primary School.
Authorities say the situation has created anxiety within the community, prompting urgent intervention from the district security team.
The RDC noted that the committee’s findings will help identify accountability gaps and recommend appropriate action to ensure justice for the affected learners and their families.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Real Quality Primary School in Kisoro Municipality — which was previously among the schools whose results had been withheld — has now received its examination results.
School Director Responds
In a brief WhatsApp message, Charles Harera, one of the known directors of the now-defunct Kisoro Progressive Secondary School, said efforts are underway to resolve the matter.
Harera appealed for calm among parents and students, expressing optimism that the issue could be resolved soon.
He said he is in contact with parents and students and hopes the matter will be settled within a few days.
In a WhatsApp post, Hakizimana Amos, a director at Real Quality Primary School, announced that the school’s examination results had been released by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
Hakizimana shared a document containing the results of the school’s candidates who sat for last year’s examinations, confirming that the results had finally been made available after previously being withheld.
