Police in Kisoro have arrested seven people on allegations of conducting illegal prayers contrary to the presidential directives and Ministry of Health guidelines on COVID 19.
The suspects were arrested following a tipoff that illegal prayers were being held in the home of one woman pastor Peace Nyirahabwa Lydia, aged 20 of born again ministries in Kanaba sub county.
They were arrested by Kanaba sub county LCV councilor Emmanuel Niyonsaba and police at 8am at the pastor’s home in Kibande village Muhindura parish, Kanaba Sub County
Voice of Muhabura 88.9 FM learnt that the suspects include; Nyiramahoro Pofia (18 years) of Bushanga village Kagyenzi parish,Nyiramukyo Jane (17 years) of Gisasa village, Kagyenzi parish,Dusengimana Immaculate (18 years) of Mukaka village Kagezi parish,Ntakirutimana Phiona (20 years)of Kagezi village Muhindura parish in Kanaba sub county.
Others include, Musabimana Sylvia (18 years) of Bubaga village Gisororo parish and Tumukunde Jaclyn (17 years) from Gisororo parish, Nyakabande sub county Kisoro district.
According to Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate, the suspects have broken the law and will be taken to courts of law. He noted that the fight against COVID 19 must be taken more seriously.
