Police in Kisoro is investigating circumstances under which Rtd. Captain Bagabe Claver, the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Commander for Bufumbira South Constituency and Kisoro Municipality, committed Suicide last night.
Kigezi region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate says a suicide report was made by a colleague and Kisoro district Commander of Operation Wealth Creation Col. Deo kayita.
According to Col. Kayita’s report, the deceased was found hanging in his house, fully dressed in military attire at his residence in Bigina village, Kisoro Municipality.
It is believed that Col. Kayita attempted to call the deceased’s phone several times around 7pm last evening but he did not pick up any of the calls, prompting Kayita to go and physically check, only to find the body of Captain Bagabe hanging from the ceiling on a rope.
Maate says the reason for his death has not been readily established however he cautioned the public against terminating their own lives saying, there is always a solution to one’s problems.
Close work colleagues at the district headquarters say, the deceased was heavily indebted and this could have pushed him into an irreversible action.
