Kisoro district Football Association (DFA) has founded a girls’ football league effective April this year with an aim of developing girls’ talents in the district.
This was announced yesterday on Thursday the 31st of December 2020 during DFA’s meeting that was chaired by Chairman Mr. Shimiyimana Benon aka Gacucu.
According to Mr. Gacucu, the girls’ league will be played on a home and away basis during holidays because most female footballers are scholars.
In the same Meeting, Gacucu revealed that the Bufumbira south united girls team Manager Mr Senga Peter will have to serve a three year ban due to his repeated misconduct during tournaments.
He also asked football Coaches in the district to form an association to bring them together and also help them plan on how to improve on their professionalism
The Kisoro district Referees Association chairperson, Twagyirayezu Stanley commended the decision to start a girls’ district football league saying that it will help talented girls get bursaries and also earn them money.
The decision was also welcomed by football coaches in the district saying that the girls’ league will promote and develop talents of the young girls. They also noted that the tournament will also attract sponsors to their football clubs.
Meanwhile, the curtain raiser for the girls’ league will be a final game that will be played between Kisoro young Simba girls’ team and Zovu girls team on Tuesday next week.
