A total of 124 million Shillings has been collected from Christians today during the Bishop’s annual appeal fund while at Gisoro catholic parish in Kisoro Municipality.
The Bishop’s annual appeal fund is an initiative started by the Bishop’s office to raise money to complete various infrastructural projects owned and managed by the Catholic Church.
The Bishop of Kabale diocese Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira, who officiated over the fundraiser commended the Catholics in Kisoro who have been faithful in supporting church activities.
Huge crowds turned up at Gisoro Catholic Parish and braved the hot sunshine in order to give whatever little money they could garner but also, to show solidarity for the Church.
This year’s fundraiser is aimed at raising enough funds to construct a new Centenary Bank building in Rukungiri district.
The Guest of Honor and Member of Parliament for Kisoro Municipality Hon. Paul Kwizera Buchana said Christians have exhibited a loving heart and offered selflessly despite the financial Challenges associated with a prolonged Covid-19 lock down.
He noted that when people give generously, the reverse effect is true, “People will always support Kisoro district because of the kind heart we often show others”, Hon. Paul said.
The dean of Mutolere Rev. Fr. John Bazemenyera thanked the Christians of Kisoro for being cooperative adding that this is a very special year for Kisoro which also benefited from the elevation of St. Johns’ Nyagisozi Hika to a Parish. It was curved out of Kinanira Parish.

It was a day of joy and happiness at the St. Johns’ Nyagisozi Parish after holding their first mass as a parish.
St. Johns’ Nyagisozi was elevated from a Hika to a parish last week and handed a new Parish Priest by the names of Fr. Anthony Sansibwe.
The function attracted huge crowds and also involved the highest leadership of Church in Kabale diocese including Bishop Callistus Rubaramira who gladly officiated over the ceremony.
Christians were urged to follow Christ’s example of humility, patience and forgiving one another if they are to develop on earth and enjoy eternal rewards.
High profile politicians from Kisoro district include Bufumbira South Member of Parliament Alex Niyonsaba, state Minister for Gender in-charge of children and youths affairs, Hon. Sarah Nyirabashitsi, Bufumbira North MP Hon. John Kamara Nizeyimana and former Woman MP Rose Kabagenyi commended the catholic Church for showing resilience and continuing to grow despite the Covid- 19 pandemic and the prolonged lock down.
