Kisoro – The Kisoro Chief Administrative Officer, (CAO) Suleiman Kasozi has been transferred to Bukomansimbi District Local Government, after three years in Kisoro district.
A communication seen by Voice of Muhabura shows that Mr Kasozi who has been in Kisoro since July 2017 will now be replaced by Ismail Musa Onzu, who has the CAO Zombo district.
On Wednesday, July 8th 2020, Mr Kasozi Sulaiman wrote to all heads of departments, informing them of the “end of my tour duty.” He asked the Heads of Departments to prepare departmental briefs that will be in his hand over report to the incoming CAO.
Kasozi is expected to hand over today July 9th 2020, during the state of district address by the Kisoro LC5 Chairperson Abel Bizimana in the district council hall.
Despite Mr Kasozi saying that the transfer is a routine activity, some sources say it could be associated to the recent investigation into the misappropriation of over 514 million Shillings meant to facilitate allowances for frontline workers in Ebola screening activities at a number of border points in Kisoro.
He has been away from Kisoro for two weeks, and it is thought that he could have been following up the same issue.
Most health workers who took part in Ebola screening activities missed their risk allowances and an investigation was called into the District health department.
Meanwhile, the Kisoro LC5 Chairperson Abel Bizimana commended Kasozi for serving the district well.
The transfer comes on the heels of that of the Kisoro Municipal Clerk, Peter Matsiko, who is said to have gone for an early retirement.
This means that both Kisoro District Local Government and Kisoro Municipality have new accounting officers.
