Retired footballer player and former Speaker for Northern division, Kisoro Municipality Cyprian Munyasaga has urged players belonging to Kamonyi F.C to devote more time and resources to practicing the great game of football if they wish to become great.
Munyasaga, who donated 15 sets of jerseys to Kamonyi Ward FC at Hakiza Land Stadium, in front of Voice of Muhabura radio said his main objective was to boast morale among youngsters because what often discouraged good players is lack of sports attire including kits and boots among other essentials.
“I used to be a footballer myself, and I enjoyed playing the number 7 position. When I see young men giving up their time and engaging in football practice every day, I thought I should find a way to boast their efforts, Munyasaga explained
He further notes that he is greatly pleased that Kisoro grown talents including Bobosi Byaruhanga and Abdallah Salim are now national figures because of football.
“When I was playing active football, Bobosi was very young and I did not believe that he could play on the national team, the Uganda cranes. These players can too do it if they believe in themselves, be disciplined and remain focused, Munyasaga emphasized
Team Captain, Murengezi Enoch commended Mr. Munyasaga Cyprian who fortified their ambitions to play football by supplying them with football jerseys.
He says that he has been organizing players for friendly matches without a coach but his determination and that of the entire team has started producing fruits because people have started supporting them which is a good start to their journey towards competitive football action
“We thank our former speaker because he has supported us with jerseys but we call upon other well-wishers to join him and provide us with other necessities like playing boots”
Nizeyimana Moses of Kamonyi Ward football club says the club was formerly Muhabura Talented due to its proximity to Voice of Muhabura and because the radio was offering support which has since reduced.
According to Nizeyimana, a few staff members like Angelo Ndugustse and Vian Muhumuza offer time to coach and manage the team.
Voice of Muhabura director Trevor Mugenga says it is true the radio used to offer support however the radio channeled its energies into building staff cohesion during corporate league.
“We still call upon well-wishers to come and support Kamonyi Ward FC and local football in general because Kisoro has vast talents that are yet to be discovered”, Trevor explained
