Muslim community turn up in big numbers to say fare well to Asuman Ngenda

Sheikh Ismail Seifu from Musanze, Rwanda called on the entire congregation present at Kisoro Main Mosque to be givers as opposed to being people seeking after personal wealth.

“Allah created all people, some he blessed with riches and others with nothing. His intention is that the rich should support the poor with alms in order that the name of Allah should be praised but many have strayed from this path”, Seifu lamented

He noted that the late Sheikh Asuman Ngenda had played his role here on earth and his journey had come to an end.

He urged others to learn to make amends in their own lives and do the right thing before it is too late.

Sheikh Asuman Ngenda died on Thursday while receiving treatment at St. Francis hospital, Mutolere after a short bout of illness. He had previously been living with high blood pressure and diabetes.

At the time of his death, Asuman was a radio presenter at Voice of Muhabura radio where he had anchored Kiswahili news and presented other Islamic programs for the last 14 years.

He also served as Kisoro hill LC I chairperson until 2016.

The Secretary General of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Hajji Ramadhan Mugalu said the Muslim community has one week to submit names of a potential replacement for Kisoro district Kadhi.

Mugalu noted that Asuman’s death comes at a time when the council was planning to retire him with dignity.

The council has pledged to support his family during this difficult period.

Mbarara regional Khadi Sheikh Katamba Ismail called on the Muslim community to embrace birth and death registration by Government because such documentation helps the Muslim community access donations from charitable organizations.

The late Asuman Ngenda will always be remembered for his parental approach to issues, being honest and firm for the truth.
