A total of 1,789 S.4 Candidates in Kisoro district today begun their Uganda certificate of Education (UCE) Examinations after enduring heavy rains and piercing cold.
The rains that showered over Kisoro, Kabale and several others of the country saw school directors puzzled on how to access the examination scripts from holding facilities at different Police Stations.
UNEB coordinator in Kisoro Byamukama Aloysius said despite the heavy rains, most schools managed to start without losing too much time.
He commended the candidates for persevering despite the challenging weather conditions.
Mwumba Progressive Secondary School Head Teacher in Nkuringo town council, Joshua Nkurikiyimana 54 candidates successfully managed to sit for their exams however three students absconded.
He noted that among the candidates includes a married couple, both young people who decided to get married while school.
Muhabura Shine Secondary School Head teacher Nabasa Martin said the students were well prepared for the exams and believes the school will excel at district and National level.
Kabindi Secondary School registered 111 candidates with two students failing to turn up for their exams.
Head teacher Sebagenzi Charles said the school that built its name in the early 80s and 90s is hoping to use these exams to promote and return the school to its former glory.
