The Bishop of Muhabura Diocese Rt. Rev Cranmer Mugisha has praised Eden Mission for supporting the church leaders and their spouses with trainings on financial discipline and access to loans worth 66 Million Ugandan shillings.
Bishop Cranmer made the remarks yesterday during the launch of lay leaders and their Spouses SACCO at St. Andrews Cathedral, in Kisoro Municipality.
Bishop Cranmer urged the clergy to be wise in their investments and count it a blessing to access financial support at only 12% per annum.
“We hear of financial institutions that offer loans at 20% per month and people who are desperate enough seek such financial services, which I believe can be detrimental to one’s health”, Bishop Cranmer said
Eden Mission, headed by Kenneth Rwego is an Evangelical, Non-Denominational, Bible-based ministry that operates in the Democratic republic of Congo as well as parts of Kigezi region, including Kisoro district.
Mr. Rwego commended the church leaders and their Spouses who agreed to learn financial discipline together.
“It is our belief that the church of Christ should have leaders who are able to make sound financial decisions without first having to depend on their congregation”, Rwego explained.
According to Rwego, a financially stable family headed by a minister, Reverend or pastor illustrates to the world that God is able to listen and respond to financial problems in families.
Diocese of Muhabura joins a long list of beneficiaries including the Catholic Catechists and Spouses Sacco and a number of Pentecostal Churches that have received financial support to improve household incomes and Standard of living.
