A senior military officer confirmed Lokech’s death and said that Police Spokesperson, Fred Enanga, would issue a confirmation statement soon.

“He is dead, but Enanga will issue a statement detailing his death,” a senior military officer said.
But Enanga did not respond to calls from the media. Maj Gen Lokech was appointed deputy IGP in December last year replacing Maj Gen Sabiiti Stephen Muzeeyi.

The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) also broke the sad news in a statement.
”UPDF fraternity regrets to announce the passing on of the Deputy Inspector General of Police Maj Gen Paul Lokech. May His Soul Rest In Eternal Peace,” the Forces wrote on Twitter.

According to Police, Mr Lokech suddenly passed on from his home this morning.
The two-star General is remembered as one of the fearless military officers that flashed Al-Shabaab militias in key places in Somalia.

His last public appearance was last month at the Police Headquarters in Naguru where he gave progress of investigations into the arrest of suspects in the killing of Gen Katumba Wamala daughter Brenda Nantongo and driver Sgt Haruna Kayondo.
