According to preliminary police reports, the incident occurred on April 16, 2026, at around 1:30 p.m. during the lunch break when a strong windstorm caused one of the school’s walls to collapse. The wall fell onto the pupils who were eating from the verandah.

The victims were rescued and rushed to a nearby private clinic.

Ashaba Princess died on the way to receive further medical care, while the injured pupils were later referred to Kambuga Hospital for treatment.

Police visited and documented the scene, and a death inquiry file has been opened. The body was taken to Buyanja Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.

The kigezi region police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate noted that preliminary findings point to structural weakness in the building.

ASP Elly Maate warned school administrators to assess the safety of their infrastructure to prevent similar incidents.

Meanwhile police confirmed that investigation over the incident is ongoing.
