The Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has commissioned an office house of the Resident State Attorney (R.S.A) worth 385 million shillings at Kisoro district headquarters to enhance judicial services in the district.
The commissioning was graced by a number of district leaders including Kisoro district LCV Chairperson Abel Bizimana, Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Hajji Badru Mayanja, Kisoro Court Chief Magistrate among others.
The Kisoro District LCV Chairperson Abel Bizimana commended the Government of Uganda for setting up a permanent residence for the Kisoro Resident State Attorney.
Bizimana says it has been a security threat for the law man who has been using a rented house making him vulnerable to bribes, threats and extortion.
Bizimana commended Innocent Sebutare for tipping the district leadership on the availability of funds to construct a D.P.P office in the district.
The Kisoro District Chief Administrative Officer Hajji Badru Mayanja said it has been a traumatic experience for the State Attorney renting an office in the middle of town because many case files were being altered before reaching the magistrate’s court.
Mayanja also cautioned the State Attorney against dealing with court brokers who frustrate the hand of justice in the district.
The Assistant Principal Secretary in the office of D.P.P Denis Byaruhanga commended the Kisoro district leadership for offering land to the Judiciary.
Byaruhanga said the Judiciary intends to construct other offices in other districts.
The building was constructed by Bullmark Construction Company. It was constructed in February, 2021 and should have been completed soon but delays caused by Covid-19 affected the progress.
