The Kisoro district Task force has said Political leaders and other well-wishers have doubled their efforts towards the fight against COVID 19.
The comments were made during the last district COVID 19 task force chaired by Kisoro deputy RDC Dan N.
Mr. Dan said the fight against COVID 19 is protracted in nature therefore all stakeholders need to join hands and fight this war until it is defeated.
“We still have a big problem of people in the villages gathering to drink every day and night like there is no problem. We have threatened to arrest and beat them but nothing seems to be working. We need to sensitize our people that COVID 19 is real“, Dan said
Partners Show Support against COVID 19.
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, through the office of the district Health officer, made a significant contribution to the Lower health centers to support the fight against COVID 19.
Through their implementing Partners JCRC and USAID Star South West, the district was supported with much needed assistance.
Kisoro DHO Dr. Steven Nsabiyumva said the biggest challenge is the lack of Oxygen as well as Personal Protective Gears (PPEs).
Rotary Puts service above else into action.
The President of Kisoro- Mgahinga Rotary Club Jackie Bagainizi also made a significant contribution of a cash contribution of 500,000 Ugandan shillings towards fuel for the hospital vehicle that travels to Mbarara to re-fill Oxygen Cylinders.
The Rotary Club of Kisoro also contributed Hand sanitizer to Kisoro and Mutolere hospital who are taking the lead in the fight against COVID 19.
Ubuntu Association was also recognized for its efforts in mobilizing much needed Oxygen Cylinders. The association of Bafumbira living and working outside Kisoro is in the pipeline of delivering more support to Kisoro district.
A letter of Appreciation was delivered to UBUNTU member and senior leader in the district OWC coordinator Col. Deo Kayita who said more contributions towards the fight against COVID 19 can be expected in the district very soon.
Kisoro leadership including Hon. Minister Sarah Mateke and Bufumbira North MP John Kamara have also been instrumental in supporting the fight against COVID 19.
While speaking to VOM 88.9, Hon Kamara said the Government, particularly the UPDF have gone over and above in the fight against COVID 19.
“The UPDF have shown exemplary leadership during this time of the pandemic because they are providing security and helping in the manufacture of Oxygen,” Hon. Kamara said
