The Bagesera Clan in Kisoro District have revived the culture of meeting together, in the spirit of educating the younger generations about the importance of honoring duty and culture.
Bagesera are part of the eight major clans the constituent the way and life of the Bafumbira tribe.
The clan totem of a pied wagtail holds Spiritual significance of balance and harmony, its contrasting black and white feathers, symbolizes the challenges and hardships that one may encounter (black feathers) while the white feathers symbolize purity, hope, and the potential for transformation.
Naturist and Kirundo Sub County Representative Louis Bishubeho said the clan meetings should be used to promote unity and cooperation among members instead of being used to divide people along Political and religious lines.
During the meeting held at Little Rose Primary School in Kisoro Municipality, the members elected a new leadership structure that will be used to mobilize more members to join the association.

Kamuhanda Charles the newly appointed Chairperson of Kisoro district thanked the clan for getting together. He promised to promote the Clan and urged members to always work together.
Irankunda Clement said COVID 19 pandemic affected the clan association however more members are invited to join and work together to support development of the district.
He said many people in the district are vulnerable and people need to come together to help each other.
Manirakiza Chimpaye Rose, member of the clan said members need to come together to avoid marriages among brothers and sisters.
Such meetings can help educate the next generation about culture and promote peace and cooperation among the people of Kisoro.
