Alive Baby found burried in Bunagana Town Council

Bunagana – Residents of Gakoro village, Gasasa Ward in Bunagana Town Council have been shocked after finding a baby of around 1 week buried alive in a garden today morning.

The baby girl was found by a one Nyiranone Jovia, who had gone to dig in her garden. Nyiranone told Voice of Muhabura that immediately after reaching her garden, she saw two legs covered by soil, and when she approached, she saw hands that looked like a baby’s.

It is until she removed the soil that she noticed a baby buried in her garden, who was still breathing and alive. At that moment, she alerted the neighbours and the LC1 Chairperson.

Habarurema James, LC1 chairman for Gakoro village 

James Wilson Habarurema, the LC1 Chairperson condemned the act, saying it has happened for the second time in his village. He added that he would cooperate with all authorities to ensure that the culprit is prosecuted.

Other residents told Voice of Muhabura that the person who buried the baby s a murderer and should face justice. However, all the residents and the leaders failed to identify the baby’s mother.

The residents also blame the police for not turning up at the crime scene when called to intervene.

By press time, the LC1 Chairperson had taken the baby to Kisoro Central Police Station for further management.

Police has not yet commented on the incident.
