The boda boda community in Kisoro district is mourning the tragic loss of one rider identified as Tuyisenge Alex Samuel, 25 years who died yesterday in a fatal road accident along the Kabale-Kisoro Road.
Tuyisenge, a resident of Nyaruhengeri cell, Busamba ward, southern division, Kisoro municipality in Kisoro died while the passenger he was carrying sustained serious injuries at Kamuserwa cell, Nyarurambi ward, Rubanda town council in Rubanda district.
The passenger involved in the accident has been identified as Ndyomugyenyi Edson, a 47-year-old resident of Mukigwa cell, Kashuguta ward, Northern division in Kabale district.
According to the police report, the collision occurred on Saturday at 6:30 between, a Toyota Premio registration number UAY 258C driven by an unidentified individual, and a bajaj Boxer motorcycle registration number UFG 730J, ridden by Tuyisenge Alex Samuel (the deceased).
Police report further indicates that the accident was caused by reckless driving on the part of the Premio driver, who was driving on the wrong lane of the road.
As a result, both the rider and the passenger sustained serious injuries when the vehicle collided with the motorcycle.
ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi region police spokesperson, stated that the rider and passenger were promptly transported by UP 7647 to Muko Health Center IV. Unfortunately, upon arrival, the rider was pronounced dead.
Maate added that the passenger was subsequently referred to Kabale Hospital for further medical attention.
