Rotarians donate 15 wheelchairs to Kisoro PWDs

Taremwa commended the Rotary Club of Nsambya which managed to respond to the request for wheelchairs by the Rotary Club of Mgahinga Kisoro.

The Governor of district 9214 Peace Godfrey Taremwa has commended the spirit of unity among Rotarians in the country that has enabled a section of disadvantaged people in Kisoro feel an act of selfless love.

DG Taremwa made the remarks today, during a handover ceremony of 15 brand new wheelchairs meant to benefit Persons with Disabilities in Kisoro district.

Taremwa commended the Rotary Club of Nsambya which managed to respond to the request for wheelchairs by the Rotary Club of Mgahinga Kisoro.

“To the recipients of the wheelchairs, this is love from Rotary”, Taremwa said

He called on the members to strive to invite more people to join the club that has potential to create lasting relations focused on helping others, above self.

Kisoro district Speaker Amos Hakizimana thanked Rotary Club for being supportive towards helping improve the quality of life, especially for the children.

Hakizimana said Kisoro district Council currently has two councilors with physical impairments however they are ably delivering services to their people.

“Support from Organizations like Rotary Club is highly welcome because your efforts compliment Government. I believe that all the young people who have benefitted today, have been inspired to work hard because disability is no inability, Hakizimana said

The Rotarians also visited St. Francis Hospital, Mutolere where they launched the construction of an incinerator (furnace) meant for burning waste material at the hospital.

Hospital Administrator Pontius Mayunga appreciated the great work being done by Rotary, not only in Kisoro district but all over the country.

Mayunga, a Lions Club Sympathizer says, with each passing day, his love for Rotary club grows and possible one day, he might find himself a Rotarian.
