The Kisoro deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Dan Ndikumwami has said Security is not involved in forcing people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
Ndikumwami explained that Security alongside health practitioners have simply doubled their efforts in sensitizing the public towards the importance of get vaccinated against Covid-19.
The comments come following growing concerns from the public using various social media platforms who are complaining that security has been using force against people who are found in public areas without a Covid-19 Vaccination client card.
The same complaints have also been raised at Kanaba border where people entering the district are allegedly forced to get vaccinated, against their will.
Ndikumwami, during a phone interview explained that there are some elements in the public who are always determined to undermine the good efforts of Government.
“We are aware that some people have decided to tarnish the Government efforts by spreading false information that has now put the public on edge. We have a file on these people and we are closely monitoring them, Ndikumwami explained.
He further noted that Covid-19 vaccination is mandatory however the public is highly encouraged to embrace it.
According to the RDC, the weeklong Vaccination campaign that was concluded recently managed to cover 80% of the targeted population.
“The public is responding positively and we believe that our district will be open for business, Ndikumwami said
He noted that Kanaba border has been raised as a concern however stressed that no one is forced to get vaccinated.
The comments come on the backdrop following a Government decision to suspend free Covid 19 vaccinations, starting January 2021.
