Residents of Butaha village in Nyarusiza sub-county, Kisoro district considered it a good day, after a 16 year old juvenile, allegedly connected to countless robberies in the area was yesterday handed over to the Police.
The suspect identified as Julius was beaten to an inch of his life before being dragged to the Nyarusiza sub-county police post.
Emmanuel Ntankiriyeho, chairperson LCI Butaha village confirmed the development and said his office had registered several complaints about a thief in the village.
The suspect denied the allegations levied against him but confessed to stealing maize after receiving several slaps.
Police commended the community for working together to bringing the culprit to book however they castigated the act of beatings and mob justice, saying it’s against the law of the land.
