14 year old boy falls from lorry, dies

KISORO- Kisoro Police is investigating the death of a 14 year old boy who perished in an accident on Wednesday evening.

Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate says that the incident occurred at around 17:30, at Musezero Village, Nyundo Parish, Nyundo Sub County in Kisoro District.

Maate says that the deceased is Turinayo Derrick, of 14 years, a resident of Kamatinza village, Rwingwe Parish, Nyakabande Sub County in Kisoro District.

This happened when he, with others were going to load bricks at Kagera, along Kisoro-Rubuguri road on motor vehicle registration number UBG 874Z, tipper, white in colour. He is said to have fallen off the vehicle and died instantly.

According to eyewitnesses, when the deceased fell off, the driver parked the vehicle and after confirming that the victim had died, he drove towards Rubuguri and made a U- turn, drove past the deceased and continued towards Kisoro town.

Police has documented the scene and efforts of tracing the driver and the vehicle are underway under file number: TAR 21/2020.
