Kisoro Health workers in Health center threes have raised their concern of under staffing which they say it is making them to be overworked.
Mugabe Gereshom, a health worker at Kagezi health center three said that the health center has no laboratory technician, enrolled nurses they have two while on the side of support staff the facility has one porter.
He said that the under staffing is causing some workers to stay at work for long in case some are sick, adding that is also favoring them when they want to go for study leave.
At Chahafi Health center four Kugonza Asnansi the senior nursing officer said that the ratio of health workers is not matching with the patients they receive at the facility. She added that seven health workers have so far tested positive for coronavirus which left a gap when they were receiving treatment.
In addition to under staffing Nshimiyingoma Julius the in charge of Nteko health center said that health workers even lack transport to make outreaches.
He also said that the facility has no staff quarters which have forced the workers to accommodate in wards while others rent in trading centers.
The state minister for labour and social development in charge of children and youth affairs, Sarah Nyirabashitsi, who is visiting the health centers in the district, said that the government is committed to work with the district health department to have enough health workers in these health centers.
On the issue of lack of Personal Protective equipment minister Nyirabashitsi said that she is going to collaborate with the district health officer so that all health centers can be supplied with required PPEs.
Minister Nyirabashitsi is visiting health centers while donating liquid soap,sanitizer,mask and face shields to health workers.
She is also donating oximeters to health center fours. Pulse oximetry is used to measure how much oxygen the haemoglobin the blood is carrying.
