Unconfirmed reports say the assailants were dressed in police uniforms

The territorial police in Kisoro district are hunting for suspects who allegedly robbed money after they shot and injured a business man.

The incident happened on Tuesday, 29/04/2025 at around 2030 hours at Mugomberero trading center, in Rusenyi village, Sooko parish, Muramba Sub County of Kisoro district.

The victim of the shooting is Mucunguzi Kenneth, 30 years, a shop attendant and resident of Rusenyi village, Sooko parish in Muramba Sub County.

He was shot, injured and robbed of Ugx23 million.

Kigezi regional police spokesperson, Elly Maate, told www.vomuhabura.com that, “It’s alleged that on the 29/04/2025 at around 2030 hours, at Mugomberero trading center, four men armed with guns attacked the shop of Turinayo Michael, where they found the shop attendant (victim). He was shot in the arm and robbed of cash of 23,000,000.”

“Many bullets were shot to scare away people who were around the said trading center and thereafter they ran away,” added Maate.  

Following the incident, the residents alerted police. Unconfirmed reports say the assailants were dressed in police uniform.

The scene was visited, processed and documented.

Maate says exhibits of 9 cartridges were recovered and the victim was rushed to St Francis Hospital Mutolere for treatment.

He adds that inquiries into this matter have commenced and efforts to have the suspect arrested are being made.
