KISORO; The Nyakabande Sub county LC3 Chairman, Ntawera Funi has threatened to sue Kisoro Municipal council for dirtying his Sub County with garbage.
While speaking in the district security meeting that involved all sub county and town council LC3 chairmen in the district council hall yesterday, Ntawera accused municipal authorities for failing to put strict measures to collect garbage before it spreads to other areas.
“All the rubbish that is drained by running waters do end up in Nyakabande at LC5 chairman’s residence! Kisoro Municipality is responsible for that and I’m yet to find a lawyer to help me in suing its authorities” He explained.
The Nyakinama sub county LC3 chairman, Kamuhanda Charles also criticizes Kisoro Municipality for dumping garbage in his Sub County without noticing its leadership. He noted that the garbage contains plastic and polythene papers that have polluted gardens in the area.
In defense, the Kisoro Municipal Mayor, Ndyana Richard said that he does not have control over rains that drain garbage to Nyakabande Sub County. He however apologized to the Nyakinama sub county leadership for dumping on their area without notice saying that municipality only dumped on land upon owners’ requests.

Meanwhile the kisoro district Lc5 chairperson, Abel Bizimana said that any defense for having too much garbage around town is lack of knowledge to control it. He advised municipal authorities to set up bi-laws against reckless dumping if they are to manage garbage.
He asked environment officers to act or be replaced because Nyakabande Sub County cannot accept to be a dumping site for garbage yet science is there for innovations.

It should be noted that the said garbage in Nyakabande is taken by rain water through drainage channels on Kisoro-Mutolere road
