Kisoro: Police in Kisoro district is holding a 65 year old man and a resident of Nyagatembe village in Kanaba Sub County after being spotted by the Uganda National Drugs Authority operating an illegal home clinic using fake medicine to cure people.
The victim has been identified as Nzabonimpa Yoweri. He says that he has been operating a home clinic for over 40 years serving people in Kanaba and the surrounding sub counties using expired human medicine, Cofta and veterinary drugs.Nzabonimpa Yoweri holding a sample of some expired medicine
Nzabonimpa was arrested during an operation on Friday by the Uganda National Drug Authoring led by, Mbonigaba Jane the Uganda National drug authority Regulatory officer in Charge of Mbarara.
While at Kisoro police station, Mbonimpa asked for forgiveness and pledged to leave the illegal business that he has operated since the year 1979 at his own home without intentions of harming anyone.
“i ask for forgiveness because i have been operating this illegal business without bad intentions but rather to earn income, i will not do it again”
The Operation was led by the Uganda National Drug Authority (UNDA) regulatory officer, Mbonigaba Jane after being alerted by concerned Citizens.
According to Mbonigaba Jane, Kisoro porter’s village health unit has been admitting many children that have been undergoing false medication that attracted involvement of health authorities.
She called upon all people interested in operating clinics, Pharmacies, and other veterinary drug shops to always follow right procedures.
The Kisoro district drugs supervisor, Mugisha Sison says that Yoweri had already registered more than 40 customers this year from Nyarusiza sub county, Kanaba sub county and other areas of Kisoro district that puts people at a risk of getting Cancer because he has been using expired drugs, animal drugs and other solutions that are not right for human consumption.
He asked to people always s utilize government health facilities and other licensed clinics for treatment if they are to save their lives from money making Ugandans.
