Christians across Kisoro District have commended King Ceasor Mulenga Augustus for his continued support to churches in the area.
The appreciation was expressed on Thursday during the reception of 3,000 iron sheets donated by the king to various Catholic churches across the district.
Speaking to the media, Rev. Fr. Joseph Sebatware, the Dean of Mutolere Deanery, expressed gratitude for the donation, describing it as a significant contribution to the growth of the church. He noted that since his deployment to Mutolere Deanery, the church has received iron sheets worth more than Shs2 billion from the king.
He encouraged Christians to emulate such generosity and prayed for more blessings upon the donor.
Rev. Fr. Augustine Munyandamusya, the Parish Priest of Kinanira Parish, also applauded the king for supporting church development, noting that Kinanira Parish benefited from iron sheets for three churches.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of Zindiro Catholic Church, Augustine Sibomana, said Christians had long awaited the support and were pleased to finally receive it. He also commended the leadership of Mutolere Deanery and Gisoro Catholic Parish for their coordination.
Amando Nteziyaremye, representing Christians of Zindiro Village, urged believers to continue practicing almsgiving during the Holy Week as they prepare for Easter.
The beneficiary churches include Rutaka, St. Peter’s Hamushenyi and Kisharu in Rubuguri Parish; Gacaca, Mulehe and Nyarurambi in Kinanira Parish; Kigezi in Mutolere Parish; Burere in Soko Parish; Zindiro in Gisoro Parish; Kanyancucu in Nyagisozi Parish; and Mpundu Catholic Church in Gatete Parish.
