M anchester City can extend their already formidable 12-point lead at the Premier League summit with yet another victory against Wolves tonight.

Pep Guardiola’s side are in irresistible, record-breaking form, with goals from centre-backs Ruben Dias and John Stones securing a 2-1 win over West Ham on Saturday – an incredible 20th consecutive triumph across all competitions.

City’s supreme strength in depth has helped the Spaniard to make plenty of changes game to game during this historic sequence and, as many Fantasy Premier League managers can attest, trying to second-guess Guardiola’s selections is, now more than ever, a fool’s errand.

However, it seems likely that Joao Cancelo could return at either right or possibly left-back against Wolves, with the versatile Portuguese international having been rested for the win over West Ham.

That would lead to either Kyle Walker or Oleksandr Zinchenko having a breather (Benjamin Mendy is also an option), while Guardiola has the choice to swap in Aymeric Laporte if either of Saturday’s goalscoring centre-halves – likely Stones – need a rest, though Nathan Ake remains sidelined.

Pep has options in abundance further forward, with the likes of Rodri and Bernardo Silva vying for starts after Fernandinho, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan were selected as the midfield three against West Ham.

Gabriel Jesus looks poised to return to the XI up front after Sergio Aguero made only his fourth start of the season at the weekend.

It would not be a surprise to see the Brazilian striker flanked on one side by Raheem Sterling after the latter remained an unused substitute against West Ham, while Phil Foden will also be hoping for a recall.

Confirming his side have picked up no new injuries, Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference on Monday: “Everything is fine. Apart from Nathan (Ake), everyone is fine.”

Predicted Man City XI (4-3-3):Ederson; Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Laporte, Zinchenko; Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva; Foden, Gabriel Jesus, Sterling
