The territorial police in Kisoro district are holding a 25-year-old woman for alleged murder of her son.
The suspect, Ruhangariyo Jacklyn, a resident of Mulindi village, Muhindura parish, Kanaba sub county in Kisoro district, allegedly murdered her son, one Irasubiza Salvation, of 2 years and 8 months.
“It’s alleged that, on the 11/04/2025 at about 6am, at the above address, one Ntawigemera Anah woke up and went for church service leaving her grand children Amumpire wisdom lan and her young sister lrasubiza salvation (the deceased) still asleep in her house with their grandfather Kubwimana Herbert,” said Elly Maate, spokesman for Kigezi regional police.
Maate adds that, “At about 7am, Kubwimana Herbert also woke up and went to the garden to spray Irish potatoes, leaving the said grandchildren inside the house.”
Surprisingly, when their grandfather came back home at about 9am, he found only one child Amumpire wisdom, who told him that her young sister was picked by their mother Ruhangariyo Jackline, and thrown her in the water tank of Mukamulisi Jesca
the grandmother to the suspect in the neighborhood.
Shocked, Kubwimana made an alarm that attracted other residents and they checked the said tank where they saw the deceased and removed his body.
They immediately alerted Maniriho Fred, the deceased’s father, who also alerted police at Kanaba sub county head quarters.
Maate told www.vomuhabura.com that the scene was visited, processed and documented, and statements recorded from available witnesses and the
suspect was arrested to assist police in investigations to establish the motive.
The body was taken to Kisoro hospital mortuary for postmortem.
