A 68-year-old widow in Kisoro District has made an emotional appeal to the public for financial assistance after failing to raise UGX 13 million in medical bills for her son, who was seriously injured in a road accident late last year.

Mukamuhutu Norah, a resident of Busamba Village in Muganza Parish, Chahi Sub-county, says her son, Tumushime Andrew, a builder in his twenties, was knocked down by a vehicle on the night of December 5, 2025, at the Old Market area in Kisoro Municipality.

According to Norah, her attempts to seek justice and support from Kisoro Police have been unsuccessful. She alleges that her complaints were not given due attention, leaving her without recourse as her son struggled with severe injuries. Our attempts to get a response from Kisoro CPS were unsuccessful.

Following the accident, Andrew was admitted to St. Francis Hospital Mutolere, where he received treatment. However, the cost of his care has accumulated to UGX 13 million—an amount Norah says is far beyond her means.

Norah has also criticized the police in Kisoro for what she describes as negligence and bias in handling her case, saying she feels abandoned and helpless.

Efforts by our reporters to independently verify the situation confirmed the existence of the hospital bill issued to Norah.

With the hospital deadline fast approaching, the distressed mother says she is uncertain about how to raise the required funds and is now turning to the public for support.
