The students flanked by their Guild President Martin Irankunda said they are not interested in demonstrating but want the district leadership to shift a blind eye from the school that is struggling to retain students because teachers are not doing their jobs.

Several students questioned the administration’s commitment to delivering a quality education despite them paying tuition fees.

Several female students said their dormitories have never been plastered which makes the place rife for diseases.

They also said many tools requested for by the school for practical work always go missing and they never have a chance to use them.

Kisoro Resident District Commissioner Hajji Shafiq Sekandi who is visiting Kisoro Technical Institute today said he is determined to find out why a technical school that has willing students is not delivering quality services.

Sekandi said Government institutes have challenges however administrative issues should never affect learners’ ability to get education and become good products of the country.

The Kisoro Chief Administrative Officer Badru Mayanja said it is unfortunate and painful for students to pay school fees and fail to study well.

He promised that they are going to find out whether the accusations against the administration are true and find a possible solution so that the institution can operate well.

A source at the school who preferred anonymity said the school has no money and tutors have no means of improvising to ensure lessons go on.

The source said some lessons are conducted using scrap metals which is collected around, and students get disgruntled and demand for better materials.

Mbarimo Eric, the Kisoro technical Institute deputy principal dismissed all accusations levelled against the administration as not true.

He said he has travelled to check on the principal who is sick and that he will give an explanation when he comes back to Kisoro.
