The Kisoro district Acting Production Officer Dr. Hebert Ngabo has been asked to temporarily step aside from his duties until a thorough investigation into the missing 54 million shillings is conducted.
Dr. Ngabo has been replaced by Solomon Basaza who formerly occupied the same position, in acting capacity.
The decision was made during a council meeting at the district headquarters.
Murora Sub County LCV councilor Irankunda Innocent presented a report indicating that out of the 61 million shillings that was allocated for the Maziba Demonstration farm, only 7 million shillings was utilized to construct small structures and to fence off the premises.
The embattled district Productions officer’s case got worse after councilors accused him of failing clearly present to the committee on production adding that allowance for such meetings were never given out.
The Kisoro district Speaker Amos Hakizimana decided that Dr. Ngabo’s operations will have to be investigated by the office of the Auditor General and the Inspectorate of Government.
Kisoro district Chief Administrative Officer Onzu Ismail Musa said the fate of Dr. Ngabo had been decided by the August house. He however noted that he would continue to serve in his capacity as district Veterinary officer whilst the law takes its course.
Attempts to get a comment from Dr. Ngabo were futile as he declined to speak to the media.
