- KISORO: The Kisoro municipality member of parliament Hon Sam Byibesho has petitioned the NRM secretariat over he called Irregularities in the concluded NRM primaries held on 4 September.
In his petitioned Sam Byibesho contends that there was no compliance with the provision of NRM electoral laws regarding registration of voters, voting procedures, display of registers, membership big voting zone.
In the petition, Sam adds that the election was married by grave irregularities and illegal practices by presiding officers, respondents and security officers with knowledge and approval by officers manning elections.
He adds that there is sufficient evidence of illegal practices and voting of eligible voters including multiple voting, forgery of polling results harassing and assaulting polling agents for the petitioner and the security officers leaning on the side of respondent and the polling agents didn’t sign declaration forms as they were assaulted and chased away from polling stations and the presiding officers proceeded to count voters despite the glaring irregularities.
“When voters saw these malpractices on the polling day,the voters declined to vote demanding for proper arrangements of voting and the presiding officers gave them a deaf ear, the petitioner’s agents could not endoro declaration forms”. Part of the petition reads.
Byibesho pointed the out the affected areas like Nyamirima cell, Kisoro hill,Kabaya ,Kasemisego, Kisoro main, Kibande,Gatovu hospital among others.
In the NRM primaries of 4 September, Kwizera Paul Buchana won the vote of Kisoro Municipality with 4,452 votes wining Sam Byibesho who got 3409 votes a magine of 1043 votes.
