The Kisoro district LCV chairperson Abel Bizimana together with the acting district education officer, Mwunvaneza Emmanel have flagged off football and netball teams that will represent Kisoro district in primary schools’ competitions that will be held in Masaka city. The brief flag off ceremony was held at the district headquarters.
The contingent of 30 players is comprised of 18 boys and 12 girls to participate in football net ball respectively. Teams from different districts begun arriving in Masaka today, the 15th of August and the competition ends on 24th, same month.
Bizimana who was in high spirits while addressing the children asked them to be confident and represent the district with honour. He asked the children to exhibit good morals for the week they will spend in Masaka city.
He asked the educators lead by the district education officer who leads the team to ensure the safety of the children.
Mwunvaneza Emmanuel, the acting district Education Officer says that the team will be accompanied by the district education officer, sports officer and the sports teachers.
He says that he believes in the two teams that they will put in a formidable performance.
Gisorora and Kabindi coordinating centres were the champions of the Kisoro district ball games that were played on the 28th July this year at Shaza playground in Kisoro Municipality. Gisorora won in boys’ football games while Kabindi won in girls’ netball games.
Ball games are annual competitions normally played in every second term among all primary schools in Uganda.
Four coordinating centres in Kisoro district including Iryaruvumba, Kabindi, Kinanira and Gisorora took part in the competition.
In football, Gisorora attained maximum points (9) followed by Kabindi with Seven points, Iryaruvumba with two points while Kinanira earned only one point.
