KISORO; The Kisoro district 2020 girls’ football edition ended prematurely Sunday 27th December 2020 due to disagreements between a semi final match between Young Simba girls FC and Bufumbira United Girls FC in the second half of the game.
The one day tournament was the first of its kind organized by the Kisoro district football association to recognize talented girls in a bid to start a girls’ district football league.
While playing in a semi final game at Saaza playground, Young Simba had their goal in the 5th last minute of the second game allowed by center referee Nirigiyimana Herbert though young Simba’s opponents, Bufumbira United girls FC led by their Coach known as Peter protested it.
According to the Kisoro district football Association Chairperson, Gacucu, the Bufumbira FC Coach was influenced by fans due to his lack of football education and experience. He added that Peter will be banned for a period of three years from any football activity in Kisoro district.
The Kisoro district Referees Chairperson, Twangyirayesu Stanley says that the Decision made by a referee in a game is always final unless if petitioned.
He also noted that incase a team fails to agree on the referees decision, and causes premature end of the game then it loses the match.
Stanley asserted that football coaches should always ensure that they train soccer players to be disciplined in order to play in any tournament but not just fighting for trophies and gifts.
Meanwhile, while appearing on the sports show on voice of Muhabura between 4:00pm – 5:00pm, both Twangyirayesu and Gacucu Benon said that inadequate funds in the game has kept it lagging behind because both referees and coaches have limited qualifications while most have no qualifications.
