
The 16-team field for the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket is now complete following the conclusion of the Qualifiers.
ABIDJAN (Côte d’Ivoire) – The 20 national teams played a total of 59 matches over the course of three qualifying windows in six African cities.
The qualifiers began with Window 1 in Monastir, Tunisia, and Cairo, Egypt, in February 2024, and continued with Window 2 in Dakar, Senegal, before making their final stops this month in Antananarivo, Rabat and Tripoli.
Of the 20 national teams that took part in the qualifiers, Central African Republic, Gabon, Kenya and Morocco were eliminated, while 16 teams qualified for the final round, which will be held in Angola from 12-24 August.
On Sunday 23 February, Guinea and Rwanda secured the last two tickets to this year’s African showpiece.

Siverbacks qualify for fourth straight Afrobasket despite loss to Nigeria
Uganda was placed in a group B of the qualifiers along Cape Verde, Libya and Nigeria. The Silverbacks collected two wins in five games across two qualification windows.
The Uganda national basketball team – Silverbacks – will be at the 2025 Afrobasket in Angola later this year to make it four appearances in a row at the continent’s premier event.
