Seasoned Politician Eddie Kwizera Wa Gahungu has today been nominated by the Electoral Commission ahead of the Bukimbiri County By-election on 11th August, 2022.
Mr. Wa Gahungu was accompanied by NRM 1st Vice chairman Rt. Hon. Ali Hajji Moses Kigongo, Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament and State Minister for Youth and Children Affairs Sarah Mateke and Kisoro NRM chairman Philemon Mateke.
Outside the nomination center, hundreds of people awaited for Mr. Wa Gahungu to emerge, sparking rapturous celebrations.
A joyous day for the NRM camp in Kisoro district, which has in recent days been receiving negative backlash from within own party, after three NRM members of Parliament decided to support an independent candidate instead of their own flag bearer.
The NRM disciplinary committee has since vowed to summon the said MPs and if found guilty, will be punished.
Mr. Kwizera seeks to make a confident return to active politics as the Member of Parliament for Bukimbiri County for the second time round , after he was unceremoniously removed, following a high court order.
No stranger to Court, Mr. Kwizera has been described as a litigious man who will stop at nothing to ensure truth, fairness and justice are attained.
Back in 2020, Kwizera, then a former MP for Bufumbira East shook Parliament when he petitioned the Constitutional Court over the legality of 83 constituencies which he said were illegally created by Parliament in collusion with the Executive.
This resulted in six MPs vacating their Parliamentary seats after court agreed that they had been elected in constituencies that were non-existent.
