Kisoro; The Kisoro district deputy chief administrative officer, Byiringyiro Rita Elizabeth has appealed for a dialogue between the district chairman and the Kisoro Municipal Mayor on how to manage the heaping garbage around the district headquarters.
This concern was raised on Thursday during a meeting between district top leadership, Municipal leadership and all LC3 Chairmen in the district discussing covid-19 and security matters.
According to Byiringyiro Rita, Kisoro Municipal authorities should accept the fact that they have failed to manage rubbish in the municipal area. She says that the failure to collect and dispose the rubbish has resulted into accumulation around the town.

Voice of Muhabura has always aired news stories where the district leadership and Municipal leadership do not agree on who to clean the district headquarters compound that has resulted into filthiness of the area exposing the staff and people living in the vicinity to diseases.
However Byiringyiro Rita explained the issue by saying that the district staff does not have capacity to generate the kind of rubbish seen at the district compound and the little rubbish they generate is always burnt.

She also said that Majority of the rubbish around the district headquarters is brought from shops by paid Batwa people.
“I think chairman you need to talk to the Municipal Mayor, district staff do not generate all that rubbish but its brought by paid Batwa from Municipal shop”, Rita said.
The Kisoro Municipal Mayor, Ndyana Richard suggested that the Municipal authorities can work with district authorities to manage and supervise the district headquarters to reduce the reckless dumping around the area as it’s impossible to ascertain who dumps it there.

Ndyana Richard also noted that the Municipal council has been struggling to get garbage dumping sites in the recent years making it hard to control garbage in the town. He however noted that Municipality has already secured a temporally in Gase village, Northern division as it finds pretty land to solve the problem permanently.
