The Headteacher of Karago Primary School in Kisoro District, Mr. Rwambuka Gideon, has appealed to the Ministry of Education and Sports to give the school special consideration after its enrollment exceeded the available facilities.

The government-aided school, located in Chahafi Parish, Murora Sub-county, operates under Karago Church of Uganda in Kabami Archdeaconry, Muhabura Diocese.

Despite the large number of learners, the school operates with only 11 classrooms and 19 teachers. Of these, 13 are on the government payroll while six are paid by parents.

According to Mr. Rwambuka, although the government has provided some support in terms of funding and other necessities, the available resources—especially classroom furniture—are still insufficient to match the growing enrollment.

He noted that the school has been forced to rely on improvisation in order to continue providing services due to limited resources.

Rwambuka therefore appealed to the Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities to give the school special consideration and support to address the growing needs.

He also appreciated parents, the government, and teachers for playing their roles as key stakeholders in the development of the school.

However, he reminded leaders in Murora Sub-county about desks that had earlier been pledged to the school but have not yet been delivered.

Meanwhile, the Archdeacon of Kabami Archdeaconry, Venerable Gad Nzabonimpa, urged the school management and local leaders to continue engaging the government to ensure that the school’s facilities are improved to match the growing enrollment.

Nzabonimpa emphasized the need for continued advocacy to secure additional infrastructure and resources for the school.
