The Kisoro Deputy Resident District Commissioner Robert Tukamuhebwa has cautioned village registers from including Congolese and Rwandese into the Yellow book.
The exercise that started on the 13th of March has been targeting all Ugandans interested in joining the ruling Political party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Tukamuhebwa commended the people of Kisoro District who have in the past always voted NRM national Chairperson and President of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni with overwhelming support.
He explained that registering into the NRM Yellow book will help plan for the forthcoming party primaries ahead of the 2026 General elections.
Tukamuhebwa said mechanisms have been put in place to prevent aliens accessing the yellow book which has been an issue in the past.
Despite the Deputy RDC’s clarion call, several residents within Kisoro Municipality have shunned the entire exercise which ends today.
Some residents said the entire process is a wastage of time because most people already know what to expect from the primaries.
Opposition leaders in Kisoro including Owen Ahimbisbwe (FDC) and Silas Nizeyimana (Alliance for National Transformation) called on the public to wake up from a deep slumber that has lasted three decades.
They said people need to vote wisely during the general elections but should not waste their time and resources rallying behind the NRM party.
