The future of 130 candidates who completed their senior four at Saviour Secondary School in Nyakinama Sub County hangs in the balance as Uganda’s official examination board, UNEB has decided to summon the school administration to defend their position after their results have been withdrawn due to alleged malpractice.

UNEB released UCE results on Thursday last week. Voice of Muhabura Radio has seen an official letter suggesting that the school was involved in malpractice in physics.

According to the letter dated 15th February 2023 signed by Dan N. Odongo, the UNEB Executive Director says the examination security committee of the board considered evidence of malpractice at the school.

“During the 335th meeting held on 30th January to 6th February, the board made the decision to withhold the entire results of 130 candidates who sat for physics paper one (535/1).”

UNEB said that affected candidates, head teacher, invigilators and other affected persons will be informed of the allegations against them and of the date, venue and time when hearing regarding the said allegations will be conducted.

A reliable source at the school who preferred anonymity told our vomuhabura.com that parents and students have been frequenting the school premises since Thursday last week trying to establish what happened to their children’s results.

Many have experienced their disappointment and threatened to remove their learners from the school.

The staff member at the school said that they are ready to defend themselves because the exam was done in presence of invigilators and the chief invigilator who was hired by UNEB to oversee how the exams were being done.

Saviour Secondary School is not new to controversy. It has been involved in strikes in the recent past.
