Kisoro District Education Officer Emmanuel Mwunvaneza said teaching in the holidays deprives learners from much needed rest, which is against the human rights of the young learners.

Assistant Chief Administrative officer Rukundo Manasseh said it is unfortunate that teachers in Kisoro have become in disciplined.  He cautioned them against such acts.

The Kisoro District LCV chairperson Abel Bizimana said many parents should also carry the responsibility of forcing teachers to engage in holiday teaching because they do not want to take care of their own children.

According to Bizimana, the law supported the action of arresting the teachers because many of them had been warned against teaching in the holiday, but many schools had decided to defy a government directive.
