According to some students who spoke to the media on condition of anonymity, the strike occurred after one student in Senior Six accused his fellow of stealing a shirt he removed from the line outside after during weekend washing.

The accuser, who identity remained concealed allegedly slap the accused and this did not sit well with the rest of the students in the dormitory, leading to a fight that spread to the school compound.

Several windows were destroyed, and others shuttered by stones that were thrown by the enraged students.

Police was called in to pacify the situation in which several live bullets were fired into the air causing the students to disperse.

Kisoro Saviour Secondary School Director Harerimana Emmanuel said the school is now operating normally with all classes going on well.

According to Harerimana, such minor misunderstandings then to develop among students who choose violence instead of dialogue which is regrettable.

Harerimana said the school has embarked on counselling and guidance for each class to ensure that students’ issues are captured and addressed.

The School that has been in existence for over eight years experienced its first strike this week however school administration is confident, such occurrences will never happen again.

Kisoro O.C Station Asiimwe Pius visited the scene and advised the school owner and his administration to make time to listen to the student’s grievances.

He further advised students to use the right channels of expressing their concerns, rather than destroying school property which can result in loss of lives, education opportunities as well as economic loss to parents.

Asiimwe further said the Community Liaison Officer is going to be visiting different schools in the district during the course of second term to sensitize learners about the dangers of strikes.

St. Peters Rwanzu Secondary School in Rukundo Town Council, Nyarubuye Sub County is said to have organized a strike earlier this month, protesting the poor leadership of the school.

Voice of Muhabura was not able to verify these claims.
