The Uganda Wildlife Education Center (UWEC), the International Airport in Entebbe, the Uganda Museum and the Source of River Nile in Jinja are some of the places, pupils from Ineza Parents School in Kisoro Municipality are set to visit, for the next four days.
A total of 40 pupils from the classes of primary five, six and seven today morning, set off from the school premises in Bigina village, aboard a Malayika bus, accompanied by some of the best educators in the district.
School’s director Jackie Baganizi says the trip that will last four days was organized by the Wildlife Club and is aimed at promoting the practical side of the pupils’ studies.
According to Mrs. Baganizi, this is the first trip of its kind at the school, where pupils are traveling to different places unaccompanied by their parents.
At a fee of 150,000 Ugandan shillings, the pupils will get a chance to tour the Entebbe Zoo, the International airport, Botanical gardens and several landing sites.
The itinerary also reveals that, the pupils will also visit the Uganda Museum and tour parts of the capital, Kampala.
Among the pupils traveling on this exciting expedition is 12 year old Eve Ainebyona.
Earlier this year, Ainebyona was recognized and awarded 350,000 Ugandan shillings for her two page handwritten Essay during the Wildlife Essay Competitions for Primary Schools 2022.
Some of the parents expressed great confidence in Ineza School which has managed to push the envelope by providing pupils a unique experience of visiting some of the historical landmarks, which some parents have not been able to visit.
Emmanuel Tumusiime, says his child in Primary seven, will for the first time be on her own which a good opportunity for her to practice making good decisions.
Mugisha Silver, says the Wildlife club at Ineza is exemplary and is inspiring many young people to love conservation and nature.
