Police in Kisoro has reported a single serious road accident involving a Toyota Hiace registration number UBJ 504A at Nyagatembe, Kanaba along Kabale- Kisoro highway yesterday.
Kigezi region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate says, the six occupants, all except one are residents of Tirinyi village, Kibuku district and one lady, Esther Namukidi of Kamwokya, Kampala.
According to Maate, the vehicle was heading to Nyarusiza for an introduction when the driver went off the road, knocked a pavement and overturned.
The accident occurred around 6am.
All the victims were rushed to Kisoro hospital however the driver escaped from the scene of the accident and is still at large.
“We suspect the driver could have slept off while driving due to the long distance they had travelled”, Maate explained
The passengers of the vehicle included Fede Alex 26 years (health worker), Musana Andrew 30, Baluka Immaculate, Kataika Jane and Esther Namukidi
