The Kisoro Grade Two Magistrate’s Court led by His Worship Gidudu Fred has today sentenced Hafashimana Paskali and Muhawenimana Colodina Mukamulenzi to 30 month Two and Half years) in prison for engaging in indecent practices contrary to section 148 of the penal code Act.
Hafashimana Paskali aged 29 years old is a resident of Migeshi village in Rwaramba parish and is a bicycle boda boda rider at Travelers Rest hotel stage in Kisoro municipality.
Muhawenimana Colodina aged 24 years is a Rwandan citizen. The duo while appearing before the Magistrate pleaded guilty to the charge.
The court heard that, on 2nd October 2021, while in Kisoro town along Kisoro- Bunagana road, the two people mentioned had roadside sex which is contrary to the law of the land.
State attorney Muhendo Peter told the magistrate that the act, calls for a punishment of seven years in prison with hopes of deterring other people from pursuing the same course in the future.
His Worship Gidudu however said since they were first time offenders, leniency is necessary.
He however condemned the acts of the two people and noted that when human beings stoop to the level of animals, then civilization is in danger.
The two were both sentenced to 30 months in Prison.
The curious case of Hafashimana Paskali and Muhawenimana Colodina Mukamulenzi made national news putting Kisoro district in the limelight.
