In the election of LC5 Councillors, at least 8 NRM flag bearers were also trounced by independent candidates, and this was followed by a National Unity Platform candidate beating an NRM flagbearer for LC3 Councillor for Busamba ward, Southern Division in Kisoro Municipality.

Asked what this meant for the NRM party, Mr Ramathan Ndikuyeze, the Kisoro NRM Vice Chairperson said that their loss is like a drop in the ocean, adding that Kisoro is a stronghold of NRM, having voted for only NRM MPs and become the 7th district to support the party countrywide.
