David, your assessment of that performance?

I didn’t see that coming, at all. The players were in good spirits and we felt pretty good about what we had been doing.

But obviously I just didn;t think we played well tonight, I didn’t think it was particularly a good game.

One or two decisions could have easily gone the other way but didn’t.

Were the feet a bit high from Callum Wilson on the keeper of the first goal?

I thought it was a dangerous play and I asked for it. The game just didn’t feel like it was particularly well officiated tonight. But that wasn’t the reason why we lost.

Yes I do. When you’ve been a player and you go over the white line, it’s your own concentration. There is a great spirit among the players, I don’t think it had anything to do with it at all.

Well, that’s what I think.

I didn’t prepare in any other way than to make sure we got a good performance but we didn’t get one tonight.

Andy Carroll’s elbow, generous interpretation of that from the ref tonight?

I do, it was very generous.

Again, that wasn’t the reason why we didn’t play well enough but it was generous.

Was it a red card?

I don’t know. I haven’t seen it again but people tell me it could have been dangerous. It’s part of football.

Needed defenders, two conceded tonight, reiterated the need for new recruits?

I think that defensively we have been short of jumpers and competition that I want so that has been a problem. If we get an injury or suspension then we will be really short.

We are trying to get players in. Let me tell you, there are plenty getting offered, trying to get ones in that will have a similar impact to Tomas and Jarrod. People we feel can go forward with us but yes, we want to add to that department.

How concerned are you with another relegation battle?

It’s just one game. We played well at the end of last season so if I can get back to those standards we set in those nine games we will be in a good position.

I think the players can play much better. We made chances, didn’t take them but overall I just didn;t enjoy it, it wasn’t a good game at all.
