A total of 207, 720 Insecticide Treated Mosquito Nets were earlier this week received and flagged off to 65 Parishes across the entire district of Kisoro to fight malaria disease.
Malaria Focal Point Person Muntu Geoffrey said the exercise is expected to begin next week.
Parish chiefs who will first be trained and the Village Health Teams (VHTs) on how to distribute Mosquito nets to households will receive the mosquito nets.
Muntu said the hotspots for Malaria cases include Busanza, Nyakabande, Kirundo and Nyundo Sub Counties.
Kisoro District Assistant Health Officer Dusabe Annet said that the mosquito nets are not for making chicken houses but instead they are supposed to be used to sleep under them.
Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Rukundo Manasseh encouraged the health department to always inspect those who will distribute these nets to avoid loss to Government.
Kisoro Deputy RDC Robert Tukamuhebwa said security will be monitoring the use of these mosquito nets and anyone found selling them will immediately be arrested.
